Schedule and Registration

DC THREADS SEWING LOUNGE

Please click here to register for the lounge. If it is full, please add yourself to the waiting list.

The DC Threads Sewing Lounge always takes place on the second Saturday of the month, and we begin accepting RSVPs on this page on the 1st of the month. Once we post the registration, spots tend to fill extremely fast, so if you would like to receive the announcement email, please join our mailing list through the form on the right.

The following information describes the process for registering for the Sewing Lounge:

DC Threads sewing lounges are free and popular, so to make the process as fair as possible, we take RSVPs through this page.

  • First-time Sewers: If you are a brand newbie to sewing or feel you would like a structured tutorial on how to use a sewing machine, please be sure to register under the “First-Time” category as we have a limited number of spaces available for the starter tutorial. It is also essential to arrive by 10:00am so that you can participate in the tutorial, which will start with or without you at the beginning of the lounge session.
  • For Other Levels: Please sign up in the “All Others Category”
  • Volunteers: If you are a volunteer coach, just email us and let us know if you will be attending. If you are interested in volunteering with set-up before the lounge, please email us as well. We will take up to 2 set-up volunteers per session, and ask that you arrive by 9:00am to assist.

If all spaces are full, please add yourself to the waiting list — you will have an opportunity to specify your level when you fill out the waiting list form. We reconfirm with registered participants as spaces become available.

Registration for the lounge sessions are posted on the 1st of each month, so be sure to check this page then to register.  Also, if you are not on our mailing list, please add yourself using the form on the right  to receive announcements about future sessions.

What can I do if the Sewing Lounge is full… is there any way around the waiting list??

passthreadYes! One of the factors that limits the number of spaces we can offer at our sewing lounge sessions is the need for more volunteers to help coach beginners, and to help us set up before each session. If you are interested in either type of volunteering, contact us to let us know which session you’d like to volunteer for, and let us know if you are able to coach others or are just interested in setting up. We will take 3 set-up volunteers per session, and you will need to arrive by 9:00am on the day of the lounge.

asglogoAlso, as a thank you and to promote the parent organization that helps us make DC Threads possible, we  want to extend automatic admission to any of the sewing lounge sessions to American Sewing Guild members. If you are already a member, just contact us with your member number and the chapter you belong to. If you’re not a member and want to join, check out this page for details on how to become a member and what the benefits are.
