DC Threads is a volunteer-founded and volunteer-driven organization. If you love to sew and want to share this craft with others, consider being a volunteer at one of our sewing lounge sessions.There are several ways you can lend a hand:
- Help with Sewing Lounge set-up: We are in need of volunteers who can help us get the sewing machines out and plugged in, organize the fabric table, set up chairs, and get our sign in sheet ready. If you are interested in doing this, we ask that you come one hour before the lounge session. As an added perk, you get into the lounge with no waiting list!!
- Be a Sewing Coach: We’re especially looking for individuals who can help beginning sewers learn how to operate a machine and start on their first projects. It’s a minimal time commitment, it’s a lot of fun, and it’s what makes DC Threads possible! If you’ve never volunteered with us before, we ask that you come 30 minutes before the lounge for a brief orientation.
- Be part of our Steering Committee: We have a small group of dedicated individuals who meet periodically to provide their feedback and shape the direction of DC Threads. If this is something you might be interested in, contact us to find out more details.
- Have other skills you think we could use? Don’t be shy — be in touch! We welcome your ideas.
